Biomass energy has received increasing attention due to its characteristics of being green, low-carbon, clean and renewable. China is rich in biomass energy, and rationally utilizing and developing existing resources and transforming them into the energy power necessary for daily economy and life is an important part of promoting China's energy production and consumption reform.
Development Priorities of Various Regions
With the implementation of policies and technological advances in the development and utilization of biomass energy, various regions have also achieved certain achievements in the development of biomass energy. China has vast territory and abundant resources, and the biomass resources in each region are different, which determine that different regions in China have different focuses on the development and utilization of biomass energy.
According to the data released by the China Association for the Promotion of Industrial Development Biomass Energy Industry Branch (formerly China Biomass Energy Industry Alliance) in June 2018, waste-to-energy projects are mainly concentrated in East China and North China, especially in the relatively developed East China, the development scale is relatively large, and its proportion of installed capacity of waste-to-energy projects in the country is as high as 56%. The agricultural and forestry biomass power generation projects are mainly concentrated in North China, Northeast China, Central China and East China with abundant crops. The crop straw resources in northwestern and northwestern areas are relatively scarce, and the collection and transportation of raw materials in mountainous areas are difficult. Therefore, there are few agricultural and forestry biomass power generation projects in these areas.

The national biomass power generation construction varies during the 13th Five-Year Plan period
Quantity of bio-natural gas demonstration counties is expected to reach 160 in 2020
According to the different regional resources, the scales of various types of biomass energy construction formulated by the state have different emphases. The 13th Five-Year Plan for Biomass Energy Development issued by the National Energy Administration clarifies the layout of different biomass energy sources in various regions.
According to the national bio-natural gas construction layout, the number of bio-natural gas demonstration counties will reach 160 by 2020, and the number of large planting and breeding counties will reach 300.
